Daily Life

We provide the following sundry items for all residents:

  • Incontinence supplies (these may be subject to additional charge if not supplied through the NHS)
  • Toiletries are available upon request
  • We can also arrange for personal newspapers to be delivered (additional charge).

Danesford Grange offers the facility of a hairdresser who visits the home weekly and a barber who visits once a month (for an additional charge).

Residents can choose to have TV in their rooms, but any electrical items brought into the home must be PAT tested first by our Maintenance staff.

Visitors

Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit their loved ones. We do however ask visitors to be mindful of the other residents within the Home and to keep children well supervised at all times. We welcome visits from well-behaved pets; please do clear up after them though!

Access to the Home outside working hours is via an entry phone system.

We do have a protected meal times policy where we don’t allow any visitors into the building during meal times unless they are assisting their loved one, this is to ensure residents are not disturbed whilst eating. We don’t allow any visitors before 11:00 am as this can interrupt medication rounds. Our general visiting times are below:

  • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
  • 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
  • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Activities

Activities are part of the daily routine of the Home and we employ a Social Life Coordinator who works across the Home to provide a programme of activities specially developed to support those we care for. A physiotherapist leads on exercise activities. The home uses a local company that provides coaches and minibuses suitable for wheelchairs and our Activities Coordinator arranges various outings for our Residents throughout the year.

Special Occassions

Special arrangements are made at Christmas to help engender a festive spirit. Birthdays and where appropriate wedding anniversaries, are also celebrated. Relatives are encouraged to help organise and attend these events.

Religion

Danesford Grange encourages all those we care for to continue to observe their religious life. We have a member of the local Ministry Team who attends the home regularly and is available to provide support to residents and their families. We also have links with our local Catholic clergy and welcome ministers from any recognised faith.

Residents and families of other denominations or faiths have ready access to a member of their own clergy and all clergy will visit individuals at any time on request.

Therapies

The Home provides physiotherapy and alternative therapies such as reflexology (where available) on a regular basis to residents at the discretion of the nursing staff. There is no cost for group physiotherapy.  However, there is a charge for individual physiotherapy and alternative therapies.

Danesford Grange can arrange for the following therapeutic    techniques to be available (some at an additional charge)

  • Reflexology
  • Chiropody
  • Physiotherapy

We have a selection of external providers that come into the home each week. Sheila from Extend  Exercise comes in every Tuesday to stimulate the residents.

Laundry

All laundry is done on the premises. We do ask that clothes are not only marked with the resident’s name but also have, safely attached, the manufacturers’ laundering instructions. We cannot be responsible for clothes that are not clearly marked or for clothes that require special laundry treatment.

Respecting Privacy

We provide lockable storage within each bedroom. Bedrooms also have lockable doors.  The Home’s ethos is to protect and enable each and every individual’s right to a private life.
